While representatives for HBO have not yet responded to the backlash, an article shared by Serbian news agency Tanjug quoted the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs defending Biković, per Variety.
“We underline that the claims by the Ukrainian side are unfounded, as Miloš Biković is, above all, one of the most popular and the most talented Serbian actors of his generation who, despite his young age, has already left a mark in Serbian as well as international cinema,” the statement reads.
Biković also said, in Serbian, that he wished there were “no wars” in an Instagram post not long after the Russian invasion, as reported by Deadline. “I wish there were no wars … Naive, I know,” he wrote at the time.

Biković has appeared in numerous hit Serbian and Russian films and TV shows over the years. The White Lotus will be his first American show, according to Time. Per his IMDB, he has over 50 acting credits to his name, including South Wind and Montevideo: Taste of a Dream, and has 10 upcoming productions under way.
