- Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) CEO Elon Musk is keen on introducing self-driving cars to Europe and the U.K. having taken officials from a European safety ratings organization on test drives in Germany in April.
- Those officials belong to the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP), which has support from government agencies. They were at their annual meeting in Munich last month.
- Tesla is also apparently working to change UN regulations regarding advanced driver assistance systems, a move that could allow autonomous driving more widely by the end of 2025, The Telegraph reported. A task force is working to finalize changes by 2025.
- While Tesla (TSLA) said it was demonstrating “full-service driving” technology in April, it is somewhat of a misnomer. The technology is considered “Level 2 plus” autonomous driving, meaning it requires driver supervision. However, Level 2 plus capabilities include stopping at traffic lights, changing lanes automatically and handling road intersections.
